Many articles can be found regarding requirements for building in coastal areas, but few touch on requirements past the obvious outside cladding and fittings of homes and buildings (which are obviously very important!)
However, many Metal Building Brackets on decks, carports, verandas and underneath homes are exposed to the elements, especially where there is wind-borne salt spray.
We suggest, even if Stainless Steel hasn’t been specified, Stainless Steel Timber Connectors should be used in any exposed areas in homes within 1-6 kilometres of the coast depending on the type of salt water in the proximity (eg surf, exposed, calm).
Always check with your local building authorities for local requirements and mandatory usage of Stainless Steel.
